Glass Catfish

This is my glass catfish. He is very important to me. He is an elder of the tank. He is about the same age as the algae eater and also has been in the tank for almost a year. Scientists can't seem to tell the male from the female yet, so "he" could be a "she". We had another for about a month, but that one died. He is to elderly to fight for food. Instead, when the algae eater is off chasing the barbs from his food, the catfish takes some nibbles a the disc and goes to hide before the algae eater comes back. Little sneakster!!! They can eat fruit flies, so get some. Also, glassworms can fill 'em up. Mosquito larva can also feed them. I say get live food. But some things are dangerous. Diving beetles will eat glass catfish, water boatmen, backswimmers, a lot of things are dangerous for fish to eat and/or be with. River spiders are out of the question. But blood worms and cyclops are delicacies. They grow to three inches long and one inch wide. He is transparent, so you can see his anatomy. Even his brain! Cool!!! He gets caught in squabbles too. But he is really big because he has been alive for so long. So he wins against the algae eater. DING DING DING!!!
